Mateusz Ficek received his BSc and MSc in electronics and telecommunication, specialty: optoelectronics, from Gdańsk University of Technology in 2012 and 2013, respectively. In the years 2015-2016 senior engineer and technical lecturer. In 2016 he opened his PhD thesis entitled "Manufacturing and characterization of thin diamond layers on quartz glass substrates, in particular fiber optic fibers, for optoelectronic sensors." During his academic career he traveled to numerous national and international traineeships including a 3 month internship at Hasselt University, Belgium, and a 3 month technical and industrial internship at GarocinLabs. The results of his scientific work have been presented at many national and international conferences (eg USA, Belgium, Russia, Finland). He is also a member of international SPIE and OSA organizations. In 2019 he obtained PhD with honours. Currently, he is working as an assistant professor at the Department of Metrology and Optoelectronics. In December 2019 he was appointed a PostDoc position in Foundation for Polish Science TEAM-NET “QUNNA” project, in the research team at Gdańsk University of Technology. More than 5 years of experience in PA CVD and PVD deposition of thin layers and materials characterization such as nanodiamond powders, semiconduction diamond layers, nanotubes, nanowalls etc. His main research area is materials engineering for optical and electronic devices.
